Matt Gromlich, running for congress in Louisiana's 4th district, stands outdoors in front of a building with large windows, wearing a black blazer with a USA flag pin, a white sweater, and jeans, with his hands on his hips.

MEET MATT

Dr. Matthew D. Gromlich is an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS), where he teaches Secondary Mathematics Methods, Secondary Science Methods, and Educational Technology courses.

Gromlich obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on Mathematics Education. He also holds a B.S. in Chemistry Education, a M.Ed. in Agriculture & Extension Education, and a M.Ed. in Educational Policy and Leadership.

Dr. Gromlich has been published in the Journal of Research and Practice in Assessment (Wiens & Gromlich, 2018), the Journal of Behavioral and Social Sciences (Gromlich, 2021), the Encyclopedia of Psychology in the Real World: Education (Gromlich, 2022), the European Journal of Educational Research (Gromlich et al., 2023), the International Journal of Teaching and Learning Sciences (Gromlich, 2024).

Whether he's in a college classroom or at someone's front door, Gromlich’s approach is simple: listen first and give people the space to think for themselves. For Matt, leadership isn't about talking the loudest; it's about helping people get the results they deserve.

That mindset started early. Raised in a military family, Matt grew up watching his father serve more than 30 years in the Coast Guard. That life meant moving across nine states, but it was Louisiana's sense of community and character that convinced him to put down roots. No matter where he lived, one lesson remained the same: service comes first. It's why he became a teacher. And it's why he's running now.

Across Louisiana, Gromlich has watched federal policies make life harder for students and families. Medicaid cuts threaten rural hospitals. School lunch programs have been stripped bare. And the current representative won't even hold a town hall. That's not effective governing.

Matt is not a career politician; he's a problem-solver. As an educational researcher, his job is to find the truth in the data, ask better questions, and make complex information accessible. That's exactly what he plans to bring to Washington: someone who reads the fine print before the vote is cast and ensures Louisiana families aren't an afterthought.

For Matt Gromlich, this campaign is not about politics as usual. He's not running for a platform. He's running because Louisiana District 4 deserves a representative who treats governing like a job—and actually shows up to do it.
